Persad Center Directors Hold Annual End-of-Year Meeting
PITTSBURGH (January 4, 2005) – The Persad Center Board of Directors recently
held its annual holiday end-of-year wrap-up meeting and potluck party. The Persad Center staff and their guests were invited
to attend the party.
Immediate Past President, Kathleen Schneider, presided over the meeting. The key item on the
agenda for this meeting is the recommitting of current board members to another one year term. Continuing for another year
will be: Donald Arnheim, Melanie Gold, Jane Louik, Wendi Miller, Bonnie Robinson, Kathleen Schnieder, Gordon Fisher, Gene
Strassburger, Eric Zeigler, Todd Goss, Rick Taylor, Berni Bishop, Bob Bernardini, Diane Reed, and Frank Winn. Kathryn Hens-Greco
has requested a temporary leave of absence.
Names of potential new board members, who will be invited to join in January,
were discussed. New members may be added at any time, however January is when most nominating and electing usually occurs.
Persad Center is the second oldest non-profit mental health center of its kind in the country, serving the gay, lesbian,
bisexual, transgender and HIV positive community. For 31 years, they have specialized in private, group and family counseling
regardless of a person’s ability to pay. They also provide professional training and educational seminars to corporations
and other organizations. Most recently, Persad Center has opened up satellite counseling centers in Washington, Armstrong
and Butler Counties. Best known for their “Art For AIDS/Art For Change” auction held every spring, Persad Center
also holds a Family Diversity Festival in February.
